Burlington Lawn Bowling Club Thursday Night League
Welcome to the BLBC Australian Pairs (2-4-2) Thursday Night League.
The league is designed to offer opportunities for pairs teams throughout the season competition that will challenge you to improve your game, socialize with fellow members, and act as a middle ground between friendly jitneys and tournament play both home and away.
Each game’s length is 14 ends of Australian Pairs. Make sure that your scorecard clearly indicates the green you are on, your team numbers and all four players names. Finish the full game and make sure you turn your scorecards into either Maurice Cartier or Sophie or Dave Burrows. If you have any questions, please ask Dave.
The Board of Directors wish us to not begin before 7:00 p.m. with the sound of the bell being rung. The scheduled start time is actually 7:15 to allow players who work to have a chance to make it on time. Also, it is hoped that we will be more likely to socialize if we begin roughly at the same time.
It is very important that you commit to both your partner and the league. If you are unable to play on a certain evening, it is totally up to you to let your partner know who your spare will be. You may choose from the spare list, or in some cases another member of the club. You may not choose a player from an existing team. It would be a courtesy to let your opponents also know who the spare will be.
Scoring consists of 3 pts. for a win, 2pts. for a tie, 1 pt. for a loss, and 0 pts. for a default. Also, each end won is worth ½ point each. At the end of each 7 games of round robin play, the top two teams of each division (except 1) move up a division and the bottom two teams (except 4) move down a division.
Above all, have fun, compete, and socialize.
Thank you - Dave
