Sun., July 13 - At Burlington's Open Novice Triples, sponsored by La Salle Park Retirement Community, our own Chuck A. Craig B and John Sm finished first with 3 wins. Garnet Dobsky's team from Heritage Greens in Kitchener came in second with Kevin Barber's team from Woodstock/Simcoe finishing a very close third. Dave D's team had the last game high. Two "wrinkles" or skills competitions were held between game one and two. No winners for the first skill (draw to the inside of a large circle the size of a hula hoop. One winner for the second skill - a runner with jack knocked in ditch with bowl following. Congratulations to Rahemm McEwan from Oakville. Honorary mention to Lisa Lynch of Heritage Greens, and John S and Don B of Burlington for hitting the jack. Thanks to Mary W for being the official umpire (had to measure the last bowls of Chuck's game); Ken, Mike, Brian for doing the greens that morning; Diane for feeding the volunteers; Anna, Diane, Joan and Eleanor for handling the hungry and thirsty hordes; Joan, Fred and Maurice helping with the skills contest; Julie and Lorraine for bar duty; and Marion and Theresa for drawmaster duties. It was hot and humid but all prevailed.
