Sunday, June 28 - Ron and Ruby DuFeu Memorial Aussie Mixed Pairs/Women's Pairs is sponsored by Pat and Craig Binnie of the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club in honour of Pat's parents who thoroughly enjoyed lawn bowling and were good at it too!

Friday, June 5 - Burlington hosted the 145th OBA Open Singles, the oldest tournament in Ontario (and maybe the world?).  Although the two greens were not full, 26 bowlers vied for the honour, and seven were from Burlington.  Everyone played 3 games in their pools and then the winners had to play an additional 2 games to get into the money.  Many thanks to Mathews Dinsdale for sponsoring the event; to Dave Burrows and Chris Brandl as drawmasters; to the greenskeepers (Jim is a member of that - did he work that morning?); Ken Maitland for umpiring (and he made a lot of calls - utilizing almost every tool); to Lorraine and Josephine for bartending; to Diane, Kay, Midge and all their helpers; Michael Briks for organizing the markers (I believe all the greens were covered by wonderful volunteer markers and scorekeepers); and of course, to the many fans who stayed to watch and cheer.
