Canadian short Mat Championships - Lindsay, Ontario - November 17-23, 2025
SINGLES - 48 participants
5 games, 15 ends - 300 bowls (per bowler) the first day
Marion Brunton made it to the top 16 but was then eliminated by Jim Baggs, who lost in bronze medal game.
Gary Pickering of Niagara Falls won against Jake Masterson of Heritage Greens on an extra end and a measure. It was very exciting to watch. Travis Anderson of Guelph was the bronze medal winner in a close match against Jim Baggs of Kingston.
PAIRS [2 bowls] - 36 teams
5 games, 15 ends - only 150 bowls (per bowler) the first day
Obed Nnewe & Fred Gundel also made it to the top 16 the next day but were eliminated by Marion Brunton and Penny Heneke, in what Fred described as fantastic bowling by the opposition! Unfortunately, Marion and Penny did not continue into the Semi-Finals.
Jake Masterson and Murray Bennewies won gold against Dave Llewellyn and Martin Foxhall in a very exciting and close match. It was tied 12-12 in the 12th end. Steve McKerihen and Patrick Cote won bronze against Al Bell and Terry Bradshaw.
TRIPLES [2 bowls] - 24 teams
5 games, 15 ends - only 150 bowls (per bowler) the first day
Still waiting to find out who makes it to the top 16. However, after 3 games, Obed Nnewe, Fred Gundel & Dave Burrows and Marion Brunton, Sophie Burrows & Penny Heneke were in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in Pool A. Tom Gwinnett, Peter Andersen and Don Rush were in 2nd place in Pool B. Wishing them good luck in the remaining 2 games.
In the top 8 were Obe, Fred & Dave and Tom, Peter & Don. However, Obe's team lost to Jim Baggs. Tom, Peter & Don made it through to the semi-finals, winning against Dave Anderson, Jake Masterson & Laura Seed (Milton / Heritage Greens). They lost their semi-final match to Travis Anderson, Dave Llewellyn & Martin Foxhall (Guelph / Cobourg)and are playing against Jim Baggs, Scott Bell & Carol-Anne Bell for the Bronze. Meanwhile, Travis's team is playing for gold against Gary Pickering (Gold in singles), Peter Stuart-Sheppard and Bill McCollam (Niagara Falls / Cobourg).

FOURS [2 bowls] - 16 teams
Sophie Burrows, Dave Burrows, Fred Gundel & Susan Dale (Port Credit) make up one team, while Marion Brunton, Penny Heneke, Cary Lucier & Mark Lucier (Windsor) comprise the second team.
Both teams made it to the top 8 or the quarter-finals, with the Burrows team playing the Baggs team and the Brunton team playing Warren. Both teams lost to eventual medalists.
