District and Provincial Championships updates

Men's Singles - Provincial Championships - July 4 and 5, 2026 - Heritage Greens, ON

Jim Steckle was the lone Burlington bowler in a field of 28 in the men's division. He did not make it to second day but played well in a field of experienced bowlers.  The gold medal went to Kody Olthuf (Woodstock) over Erik Galipeau (James Garden).  Third and fourth place went to Jake Masterson and Mark McFadyen.  Congratulations to all.  This is the third medal for Erik (silver in Fours and gold in U25 Singles).

Women's Singles - Provincial Championships - July 4 and 5, 2026 - Guelph, ON

Pat Binnie and Sophie Burrows were the Burlington bowlers in a field of 12 in the women's division. Both bowlers made it to the second day but only Sophie made it to the medals.  Congratulations Sophie on your bronze medal win over Lianne Franklin (Heritage Greens)  Winning gold was Katrina Carter (Hanover) over Rebecca Coon (Heritage Greens). This is the second medal for Sophie (gold in Senior Triples), Rebecca (silver in U18 singles) and Katrina (silver in Fours). 

Provincial Youth Championships - June 27 and 28, 2026 - Peterborough, ON

There were 5 women and 5 men each in the U18.  There were 2 women in the U25 and only 1 man in the U25 division. Congratulations to all the bowlers and the winners.  The Youth Canadian Championships will be held in Hanover, ON on August 10-14, 2026.

The results are as follows:  

U18 Women 

  • Gold - Elise Kerr (Belleville)
  • Silver - Rebecca Coon (Heritage Greens)
  • Bronze - Lily Boyd (Hanover)

U18 Men

  • Gold - Jacob Hyatt (Cobourg)
  • Silver - Dekker Ly (Oakville/Burlington)
  • Bronze - Isaac Kerr (Belleville) 

U25 Women

  • Gold - Baylee van Steijn (Cobourg)
  • Silver - Bridget Masterson (Peterborough)

U25 Men

  • Gold - Erik Galipeau (James Gardens)

Provincial Senior Triples - June 16 and 17, 2026 - Hanover, ON

There were 6 women's and 17 men's teams entered in this competition. 

Congratulations go out to the undefeated Burlington trio of Marion Brunton, Sophie Burrows and Penny Heneke!.  They are heading to Windsor for the Canadians on August 25-30, 2026. In second place was  Glenda Courtice, Sandy Weatherall and Theresa Bester while Betty Robitaille, Lynn Cranch and Laurie McLeod  came in third.

Congratulations to the first place team of Vince Donohue, Glen Patton and Gary Butineau.  Second place went to Larry McClellan, Andrew Davis and Wayne Christie while Wayne Martin, Fred Clark and Jurgen Fessler came in third place. 

Provincial Open 4's - June 13 and 14, 2026 - Pickering, ON

There were 6 women's and 8 men's teams entered in this competition.

For the women, the team of Elizabeth Cormack (Richmond Hill), Pat Binnie (Burlington), Gloria Cheung (Richmond Hill) and Teresa Bucknall (Beamsville) were undefeated and won the GOLD MEDAL.  They will be heading to North Vancouver  for the Nationals, August 16-24, 2026.  Wish them well. 

In second place was the team of Jill Calvert-Goetz, Pat Kaufmann, Sandy Weatherall and Katrina Carter.  Third place was held by Betty Robitaille, Carol MacDonald, Lori Bone and Laurie McLeod. The silver medalists will also be heading to BC for the Nationals. 

For the men, Derek McKie's team of Peter Mutter,  Murray Bennewies, and Everett Zwiers received gold.  Second place was Erik Galipeau, John Bezear, Rick Lyons and Rob Galipeau.  Third place was the young Junior team of Isaac Kerr, Cayden Carter, Jacob Hyatt and Dekker Ly
