National Championships, 2026

The Youth National Championships (U18 and U25) took place in Hanover this week, with final determination this weekend. Dekker Ly is bowling in the U18 division. He made it to silver for the provincials. Way to go. 

Fours and Pairs Championships take place in North Vancouver starting Monday August 17 - Wednesday, August 19 with Burlington's own Pat Binnie as a member of the Ontario Fours Women's squad. She is joined by skip Elizabeth Cormack, Teresa Bucknall & Gloria Cheung. Pat’s team ended up in fourth place - congratulations!  They will also be joined in BC by the second place women's team, Jill Calvert-Goetz, Pat Kaufman, Sandy Weatherall & Katrina Carter.  The Pairs championship is on at the same time with Kay Johns & Lynn Frost and Dianne Trask & Meredith Bee for Ontario.  the Johns/Frost team fought to a Bronze medal. The men's fours were represented by Derek McKie, Peter Mutter, Murray Benneweiss & Everett Zwiers, as well as Isaac Kerr, Cayden Carter, Jacob Hyatt & Dekker Ly. All four young men will be rushing from Hanover to play in North Vancouver.  Both men’s fours teams ended up with medals - McKie’s team were gold and Kerr’s team won bronze.  The men's pairs are Erik & Robert Galipeau as well as Kody Olthuf & Mike McNorton.  Both teams also won medals -The Galipeau’s achieved gold while Olthuf/McNorton received silver . Erik is also flying in from Hanover. Congratulations to all.

Singles Championships take place in North Vancouver immediately following the Fours & Pairs championship.  Ontario is represented by Kody Olthuf, Curtis Cartmill, Katrina Carter and Rebecca Coon. Rebecca is also coming to BC from Hanover, having won gold in U18 singles and silver in the Forster-Lang Pairs.  Kody Olthuf won gold in singles, taking it to a spectacular drive on the last bowl of a tie breaker. Congratulations to all.
