Elizabeth B as the District 5 representative was in Oshawa on September 20 and 21 for the Novice Singles.  She played and won all three games on Saturday, so then played on Sunday.  She ended up losing the quarter-finals to the eventual 4th place bowler, Heather Stubbings from the host club. First place went to Kirsten Merrill of Lawrence Park (Toronto) from District 12.  Second place went to Rebecca Coon from Glenridge, District 6.  In third place was Kim Bonisteel of Belleville, District 15.

John Nixon from Dundas was District 5's representative.  Unfortunately, he did not make it to Sunday.  In first place was Brandon Bone of Midland, District 13.  He played against Travis Anderson from Guelph, District 8 in an exciting final, coming down to last bowl.  Travis has won silver 3 times at the Novice Singles level but will nlonger be eligible for novices.  He will instead concentrate on short mat bowling.  In third place was Neil Parekh of Cosburn Park, District 10.  That too was an exciting finish as time was called in the 10th end.

What is nice to see were the participants in the gold medal games - all under 30, and in the case of Rebecca, under 20.

There were many fans out to watch, including Mary W and Theresa K - exciting!!
